Explore 4x4 offers ATV/Quad off road training courses for the business user. For those business users requiring training, but not necessarily wanting a national award, our own bespoke, no less rigorous, training courses are available.

For Business and Private Users
Not requiring a nationally recognised certificate

Courses are usually held over half, one or two days, and will be tailor made to your own specific requirements. Trainees will be issued with a Certificate of Training, stating the areas covered.

  • Training could be in your vehicle or ours.
  • Delegates will receive a Certificate of Training on completion of course.
  • Coffee and biscuits on arrival, and a light lunch for those on full day courses will be included.

  • Prices are subject to discount depending on number of trainees. Please enquire at the time of booking. Maximum of three people per instructor.

Requirements:

  • Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times. We can supply all the equipment, but highly recommend that if you have your own ATV you bring it with you to ensure that your training is most appropriate.
  • Helmets are available but we also advise bringing your own if possible, strong clothing, gloves and boots with ankle protection must be worn.

All courses cover

  • How to drive safely and best operate your vehicle in different off road conditions
  • Comply with legal requirements with an emphasis on Safe Practice
  • Identify the risks associated with using a sit-astride or sit- in ATV
  • Understand legal and practical requirements for travelling on the public road
  • Select and use appropriate P.P.E.
  • Understand the main causes of accidents
  • Identify and understand the controls, components and all instruments
  • Carry out daily checks as indicated in the Operator’s Manual, identify and report any faults
  • Carry out appropriate pre-start checks
  • Start up, shifting gears, braking turning and drive over a variety of terrain and ground conditions
  • Carry out a ‘Failed Hill’ climb #
  • Carry out a Risk Assessment and plan the route #
  • Operate ATV safely on a variety of slopes and terrain #
  • Identify loading and towing capacities #
  • Drive with loads and trailed equipment #
  • Reversing with loads and trailed equipment #
