Explore Bespoke ATV Training Course
Our own bespoke ATV and UTV training courses are best suited to those business or private users who are looking for a rigorous training course but not necessarily needing a nationally recognised award.
What We Offer
We offer the following courses, each of which can be tailor made to suit your own specific requirements. Trainees will be issued with a Certificate of Training that states the areas covered.
Half Day Refresher Course – Sit Astride or Sit In ATV/UTV
One Day Training Course – Sit Astride or Sit In ATV/UTV
- Training can be in your own vehicle or ours.
- Trainees receive a certificate upon course completion.
- For those on full day training courses, coffee, tea and biscuits will be available on arrival.
- All of our training courses can be tailored to suit your specific needs.
- Maximum of three trainees per instructor.
Our courses cover the following:
- How to drive safely and best operate your vehicle in different off road conditions
- Comply with legal requirements with an emphasis on Safe Practice
- Identify the risks associated with using a sit-astride or sit- in ATV
- Understand legal and practical requirements for travelling on the public road
- Select and use appropriate P.P.E.
- Understand the main causes of accidents
- Identify and understand the controls, components and all instruments
- Carry out daily checks as indicated in the Operator’s Manual, identify and report any faults
- Carry out appropriate pre-start checks
- Start up, shifting gears, braking turning and drive over a variety of terrain and ground conditions
- * Carry out a ‘Failed Hill’ climb
- * Carry out a Risk Assessment and plan the route
- * Operate ATV safely on a variety of slopes and terrain
- * Identify loading and towing capacities
- * Drive with loads and trailed equipment
- * Reversing with loads and trailed equipment

LANTRA ATV Training Courses
LANTRA ATV and UTV training courses are for experienced individuals or novice operators. Both Sit Astride and Sit In ATV course is for anyone who uses an ATV as part of their work, this includes loads and trailed equipment.
The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 requires employers to provide adequate training and to ensure that ATVs are ridden only by employees who have received appropriate training for safe use. This includes towed equipment. These regulations apply even if you are self-employed.
Training can be delivered at either our Suffolk or Warwickshire locations or at your own, and we will come to you. The sessions are carried out in small groups, so that you receive plenty of individual attention. LANTRA course materials are included.

A LANTRA fee of £37 per person applies to each of these courses.
Lantra courses cover the following:
- Comply with legal requirements with an emphasis on safe practice.
- Identify the risks associated with using a sit-in or sit-astride ATV (depending on choice).
- Select and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Understand the main causes of accidents.
- Identify the controls and components.
- Understand the function of all instruments.
- Carry out daily checks as indicated in the operator’s manual.
- Carry out appropriate pre-start checks.
- Identify and report any faults.
- Start up and drive over a variety of terrain and ground conditions.
- * Carry out a ‘failed hill’ climb.
- Carry out a risk assessment and plan the route.
- * Operate the sit-astride ATV safely on a variety of slopes and terrain.
- Identify loading/towing capacities.
- * Drive with loads and trailed equipment.
- Load and secure for transport on the road (if appropriate).
- Understand legal and practical requirements for travelling on the public road.
- Identify track profile and weight transfer.
- Load and unload machine from trailer/lorry.

Course Requirements
Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times. We can supply the equipment, but we highly recommend that if you have your own ATV you bring it with you to ensure that your training is most appropriate.
Helmets, strong clothing, gloves and boots with ankle protection must be worn – please bring your own.
